From $525 for the car, agreed in writing before the booking is accepted. A hundred and twenty miles is a proper drive rather than a transfer, and it is priced as one: the same chauffeur from the arrivals kerb to your door in La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad or downtown.
01 — The meet
Send the flight number and dispatch tracks it. The chauffeur is on airport property before you land, the thirty minutes of complimentary wait runs from wheels-down rather than your scheduled time, and you are collected at the arrivals kerb at the door your airline uses. For a drive this long we usually suggest the meet-and-greet instead — a name board at baggage claim, bags carried out, nothing to arrange while you are tired.
The part that matters more on this route is what happens after that. It is one chauffeur for the whole run, not a relay, and he is licensed and insured for the full distance. Brokers will sometimes sell an LAX to San Diego transfer and then subcontract the second half of it to someone you have never been told about. We do not, because we own the cars.
Also run in reverse. San Diego to LAX is quoted at the same figure, with the pickup time set backwards from your departure — and on this route the buffer we recommend is four hours, not three.
02 — The drive
The line is the 405 south to the 5, then the 5 the whole way down: Long Beach, Irvine, San Clemente, Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Del Mar. Once you are past San Juan Capistrano it is genuinely one of the better drives in the state and it holds a steady speed almost all the way to La Jolla.
The two constraints are both at the Los Angeles end. The first is the southbound 405 between the 105 and the 605, which in the late afternoon adds forty minutes on its own. The second is the merge at El Toro where the 405 meets the 5, which loads from about three o'clock. Get past both and the remaining eighty miles are predictable.
On an afternoon arrival the chauffeur will often take the 105 east to the 605 and come down that way instead, which reads longer and finishes sooner. If you have a fixed appointment at the other end, tell us and we will build the whole thing backwards from it.

On the northbound version — San Diego up to LAX for a flight — we recommend a four-hour buffer, and five if you are travelling on a Friday afternoon or a holiday weekend.
04 — The car
Two and a half hours is long enough that the car stops being a detail. The ESV gives you six seats with the third row up, six large cases behind them, air suspension that flattens the concrete sections of the 5, and enough cabin quiet to hold a call or sleep through the middle hour of it.
Seven to fourteen passengers, quoted separately. On a run this length it is the right call for a team or a family group — captain's chairs, standing headroom, a rear luggage bay that takes the whole party's cases, and power at every seat.

LAX to La Jolla on a Thursday afternoon, which is the worst possible time to attempt it. Two hours and fifty minutes, one car, one fare agreed before we left.
I have done the same trip by connecting flight and this was both cheaper and less trouble.
05 — The figure
Flight tracking, thirty minutes of wait from wheels-down, the meet, one chauffeur for the whole hundred and twenty miles, bottled water, a comfort stop, and loading at both ends.
Meet-and-greet inside the terminal, a drop south of downtown, a second address in San Diego County, or a Sprinter for a larger party. Quoted at booking, never after.
A delayed flight, an overnight landing, a holiday weekend, or a drive that runs three and a half hours instead of two and a quarter. The distance risk is ours.
Quoted before tolls, airport parking and gratuity. There are no surge charges on any RG Black Limo route, on any date.
06 — Questions
Yes. The same person who meets you at the terminal takes you to the door, and he is licensed and insured for the full distance. We own the cars and employ the chauffeurs, so there is no second operator involved halfway down the 5. Read why book direct for what that changes in practice.
For the car. Six passengers in the Escalade ESV pay the same $525 as one, and the figure is confirmed in writing before we accept the booking. Tolls, airport parking and gratuity sit outside it.
Downtown, La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe and the coastal corridor. Coronado, Chula Vista and anything south of downtown adds roughly thirty minutes and is quoted a little higher — in writing, before you accept.
A comfort stop is included and the chauffeur will offer one around Oceanside. A genuine detour — lunch, a meeting, a second collection in Orange County — is quoted at booking. If the day has several stops in it, hourly from $85 is usually the better structure than a point-to-point figure.
Four hours from a San Diego door for a domestic departure, and five on a Friday afternoon or a holiday weekend. It sounds like a lot until the El Toro merge is involved. Dispatch will set the exact time against your flight and send it to you in writing.
